Compact and lightweight and outfitted with a moderate magnification that ensures a spacious field of view and wide exit pupil, the green Hawke Optics 8x42 Nature-Trek Monocular features a compact phase-corrected BAK4 roof prism and anti-reflection fully multi-coated optics that work together to produce a versatile and capable optic with bright and clear color-accurate views. Its 42mm objective, coupled with the optical features and generous angle of view, makes the Nature-Trek ideally suited for most quick and casual glassing needs.
Complementing the optical performance are construction details that make the monocular durable and comfortable to use. These details start with a lightweight, impact and corrosion-resistant polycarbonate chassis that is protected by green rubberized armor. This armoring is textured to give it a non-slip grip, especially in cold and wet conditions. The optical tube is nitrogen filled and O-ring sealed to be water and fogproof—especially in extreme weather conditions. A standard 1/4"-20 mount allows the monocular to be used as a mini-spotting scope when placed on a tripod or other support system for hunting, shooting, or bird and nature watching.
Optical Performance
- 8x power magnifies view without sacrificing field of view or exit pupil
- 42mm objective lens boosts light-gathering capability versus smaller lenses to ensure bright images, even in challenging light
- Roof prism light path ensures the optical tube remains thin for easier handling
- BAK4 prism glass delivers a round exit pupil and a crisp and clear image with limited edge distortion
- Phase-correcting prism coatings eliminate internal interference to improve clarity and contrast
- Anti-reflection fully multi-coated optics maximize light transmission to produce bright and clear high-contrast images with accurate color and improved resolution
- Apparent angle of view approaches wide angle to present a spacious and immersive visual experience
- 388' field of view at 1000 yards
Use and Handling
- Large slip-resistant knob enables precise focusing, even in cold and wet weather or while wearing gloves
- Fast-focusing mechanism runs through the full focus range in just 2 turns
- Click-stop twist-up eyecup allows users to fine-tune their perfect eye relief
- 1/4"-20 mount is compatible with most quick-release plates, heads, and photo/video/field tripods and other support systems
- Long 18mm eye relief increases viewing comfort and reduces eyestrain
- Wide 5.25mm exit pupil will cover pupils as they open and dilate in low light and ensure the entire scene remains in view without vignetting
